Which class to choose

Hiya, i haven't played in quite some time and plan on returning back but I'm torn between choosing a either a templar, ranger or gunner, but got no idea how well they do in the current patch. Like how needed are they in group PVP/PVE content, how easy are they to gear up and how strong are they in terms of solo pvp in this patch. Which should i choose?
